48 Hour Book Challenge – Update #3

48 Hour Book Challenge
I’m about 11 hours into the challenge – that is, 11 reading hours, more than 36 real hours have passed.

I’ve slowed down a lot today. I read as much as I could in the morning, but then my whole afternoon was taken up by an interview and book signing by David Mitchell in a book shop not far from me.

This was of course great fun. I had already read his newest book, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, unlike most people there. The interview was probably more interesting if you had read the book so that was nice for me. The queue to have books signed was very, very long, so I sat down and joined the queue towards the end. Even then, David Mitchell had a few friendly words left for his readers.

Ons soort mensen (Our Kind of People) I’m still reading Ons soort mensen (Our Kind of People) which I started this morning.

In total I’ve read 8H 50 mins yesterday, and (so far) 2h 45 mins today. That’s a total of 11h 35 mins. As my goal was 12 hours, I’m very close. I hope to add at least another two hours tonight. As I’m allowed to add an hour (for blogging and networking) for each 5 hours I’ve read, my final total should be close to 15 or 16 hours.

You’re doing well! Especially since 12 hrs was your target (not 24). Mitchell is such a kind person, isn’t he? How was his cold; better today?

You could have been reading in fhe queue btw 😉

I didn’t bring anything to read… Just the Jacob de Zoet book which I had read already. Nearing Mitchell there was a table with his books, I picked up (and bought) Black Swan Green, which we will be reading for my book group in August. I didn’t push this at all!

No cold to be detected. Will you post a report on your adventures in Haarlem yesterday?

It seems you did well! It sounds like the David Mitchell interview & signing was a lot of fun.

Did you get any pictures at the book signing? That’s so exciting! I have only been to one book signing, but it was a fantastic experience, and I’ve resolved to do more in the future!

How fun – I hope you had a great time doing this. I love readathons and anything bookish really 😉

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
