My First Blog Award!

Versatile Blogger Award

Carin B. from A Little Bookish surprised me today with my first blog award: The Versatile Blogger. She says:

Leeswammes’ Blog – I discovered her blog recently and follow her on Twitter. She is a blogger from The Netherlands that enjoys reading and cooking. Her reviews are thoughtful and her recipes look fantastic!

Isn’t that nice? I’m so excited to have received an award!!! Carin B. is a loyal follower, she often writes comments (I LOVE comments) that are relevant and interesting. Thank you very much, Carin!

Now, the rules of The Versatile Blogger Award are:

  • Thank the person who gave you this award
  • Share 7 things about yourself
  • Pass the award on to people who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic for whatever reason (…in no particular order)!
  • Contact those you have chosen to receive the award.

Seven things about myself:

  1. I only started blogging two months ago, and I’m really enjoying it. I may decide to tweak my blog here and there in the weeks to come, but generally, I’m quite happy with it.
  2. I started a book discussion group in my home town, when I moved there 5 years ago and didn’t know many people. Now, we’ve got 10 members and meet regularly. We read English books but our discussions we do in Dutch.
  3. I lived in England for 15 years, and have been back in the Netherlands, where I was born and raised, for the last 5 years.
  4. I don’t like driving the car, so I cycle around on my bicycle a lot.
  5. I’ve been doing a diet where, if you exercise, you can eat more (depending on how much exercise you do). So, you bet: I do a lot of exercise (see 4).
  6. Although I’m a little shy, people find me very approachable. They always ask me for directions or start chatting to me.
  7. I’m 1.82m / 6 foot tall. That’s tall, but luckily, these days there are so many tall women in the Netherlands, that it’s not all that obvious anymore (I used to feel really tall when I was younger).

I’d like to pass the award on to:

  • Esme from Chocolate and Croissants. She has a beautiful looking blog with posts about food and books, and about what happens in her life. She has the most appealing, beautiful pictures on her blog, the one at the top (banner) is definitely worth checking out.
  • Jennifer from Reading With Tequila. Her blog has reviews, competitions, guest authors. I’ve been following her blog for only a little while now, and already I’ve found I’m one of her most frequent commenters. That says it all!
  • Jennifer from Crazy-for-Books. She hosts the Friday Book Blogger hop, which I find such a great way to find new blogs. She writes lots of reviews and I loved her posts about the BEA. She also takes part in blog tours. Versatile indeed!

Now, if you don’t know these blogs yet, it’s time to find out about them straight away! And while your touring blogs, don’t forget to visit Carin’s blog: she gave me the Versatile Blogger award, but could only do so because she was awarded Versatile Blogger herself! Worth a visit!

Congratulations on the award! I’ll be checking out the blogs you passed the award on to. Crazy-for-book is already in my google reader, but the other two look pretty cool. 🙂

    Have a great day!

  2. Carin B. says:

Oh I love your seven things! Six feet tall and you’ve lived in England for 15 years?!! Those were things I would have never guessed about you.

How did you like England? Were you glad to move home? I’ve always wanted to live in another country!

    • leeswammes says:

I loved living in England! I was a bit ambivalent about going back to the Netherlands, because after 15 years I didn’t really feel at home anymore. But it was something we wanted to do at some point and the kids were just the right age to make the move (school / language). Now I love it!!!

  3. Esme says:

Thank you for the award-Wow-I am almost a foot short-okay 5’3″ I always wanted to be taller especially when I am reaching for the upper cupboards. I envy you being able to move around Europe-I am a transplant from Canada to the US with a brief year in Australia.

  4. Shelley says:

I think I need to try your diet–I like food way too much to have been successful at losing weight!
    Congrats on the award. Well-deserved!

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
