It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila to share with others what you’ve read the past week and planning to read next.

This week, I finished 3 books. I seem to be on a thriller spree! It’s not at all my main genre, but somehow these books made it to the top of the TBR all at the same time :

  • Pop goes the Weasel by James Patterson. We know the murderer and we know the police officer investigating the murders. But when will they find each other?
  • Jennifer Government by Max Barry, a dystopian novel taking place in a USA where there are no taxes and the corporations are in charge.
  • Awakening by S. J. Bolton, a thriller involving snakes taking place in rural England.

I’ve started one new book:

  • Skin Tight by Carl Hiaasen, a thriller (another one) which seems to be a sort-of Miami Vice-type story.

  • Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld, about a girl at boarding school.
  • Blindness by Jose Saramago, a dystopian novel.
  • Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas by Frederick Douglass, an e-book about the life of a slave.
  • The Old Girl Network by Catherine Alliott, a chick-lit that I have borrowed from a friend ages ago.

I got one new book (for review, from the publisher):

Other news

  • The sixth of the weekly Book Bloggers Abroad guest post was posted: Amanda from Alice Springs in Australia.
  • Posted a review of Feed by M. T. Anderson
  • Posted a review of Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

That’s it! What are YOU reading this week?

Glad you liked FEED. I thought it was a neat book.

  2. Iris says:

Many thrillers which aren’t my genre, but I’m glad you’re enjoying them.

I hope you like Prep! And Blindness is supposed to be very good. The other two planned books look interesting as well!

I hope Blindness is good. I’m not sure now, it’s been on my TBR for so long. But I’ll be picking it up from the library today, so we’ll see.

Prep first, though! It got lost in the post (should have been here at least a week and a half ago) – had a Swiss post stamp on it when I finally got it. Transworld was about to send me another copy.

This is amazing! I’ve just borrowed Prep from my friend and wanna finish it this week 🙂

  4. Mystica says:

Reading is in fits and starts because everything is taking a back seat to wedding preparations.

I’m happy to see you enjoyed Jennifer Government. It’s a fun book in a dystopian sort of way, and I’m considering pulling out my old copy and reading it again, thanks to you.

    Have a lovely reading week!

  6. I’ve read a couple of Carl Hiassen books — can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it when you’re done!

  7. Kylie says:

I think James Patterson is going to become one of my “authors to read” next year. I’ve read a bit of his stuff, but it’s a book here and a book there, would love to go back and start at the beginning.
My Monday can be found here

Prep looks good – thats a new title to me. Awakening looks spooky but not sure if I could read a book about snakes…LOL

    Super reads this week!

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
