Jennifer asks: “What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?

My answer: It depends on the story. I can handle caricature-like characters in chick-lit or mysteries where the story is fast-flowing and it’s all about will-she-get-him or who-did-it. But if a story has really strong characters that are interesting in themselves, I don’t mind if the plot is a little weak.
