I finished 3 books in the last week
The Radleys by Matt Haig. A really fun book about a vampire family living a middle class village life in England.
The White Devil by Justin Evans. An American teenager spends his last school year at Harrow, an elite school in England, where he discovers a criminal ghost.
Levi Andreas by David Pefko (Dutch). Rosa works at a dry cleaners and finds a note in the pocket of a shirt. She travels around the world in an attempt to find the owner of the shirt.

Moord op Huilwater (Murder on Huilwater) by Karin Brynard. A South African murder mystery (not translated into English).
Neverisms by Dr Mardy Grothe. A quotation lover’s guide!
2666 by Roberto Bolaño. This is a 12-week readalong that I’m organising. Every section of this book has different people, but it is all about the killings of women in a Mexican town.
I wrote a review of:
Measuring the World by Daniel Kehlmann. At the end of the 18th Century, two men are measuring the world. One braves jungles and deserts while the other never leaves his town of birth.
The Girl on the Landing by Paul Torday. A man changes after he sees a picture in which a girl on a landing is depicted. No one else can see the girl, though. His wife worries about him.
Twijfels over België (Doubts about Belgium) by Petra Kruijt (Dutch). Two women decide to move to a commune in Belgium.

I read quite a bit though I am behind on my reviews. Was out of Colombo from friday and just got back. Today is a holiday in lieu of May Day falling on a Sunday. Yippeee!!!
Lucky you, Mystica! Here in the Netherlands, if a holiday is on a weekend, well, tough luck. We never get an extra day in the week. Have fun today!

Sometimes you just need to give up on a book. There are too many good books out there to waste time reading something you don’t enjoy!
I am half way through A Witch in Time by Madelyn Alt. Plan to read Home for a Spell, Chains of Ice and Chains of Fire after that.
Sounds like a series, Kristen! Always nice, when you’ve got hold of a good series and the next one is out already!
The cover on The Radleys looks fascinating….hope you enjoy your books.

I’m interested in the Levi book, though based on your comment above it’s not (yet) available in English. Alas, my Dutch is a bit rusty (ok, nonexistent) so I’ll have to wait and hope someone takes on the translation.

I’ve had my eye on The Radleys for a while, it sounds like a lot of fun. Measuring the World is also on my wishlist, but I’m afraid it’s one of those books that will be staying on that list for a while (as you said in your review, there is always a new book that looks more appealing).
Hilde, The Radleys is really good fun! Measuring the world was just so-so for me. But worth a try.

The Girl on the Landing sounds interesting. Last week was all about finishing textbooks and relaxing with manga. Come see what I read.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! The Dawn French book I just finished isn’t her biography, it’s fiction. I did read her biography (Dear Fatty) and loved it, especially because she wrote it in the form of letters to important people in her life, remembering their moments together, rather than a standard biography. A Tiny Bit Marvellous was okay, I was a bit disappointed but I think I may have built it up a lot in my mind.
Thanks for letting me know, Shan. I didn’t realise Dawn French had written fiction too. A pity it was a bit disappointing.
I have The White Devil in my review pile scheduled to read this week; looks so creepy and gothic … my cup of tea!
I’m trying to figure out when is a good point to abandon a book .. I’ve been making myself get to page 75 first, but that’s more than an hour of reading time I could have spent reading something better! LOL! But getting to page 75 means that I’ve at least given it a decent go!
*The White Devil * was my other good read this week (besides *The Radleys*). I think 75 pages is good, I normally keep to 50 but with these books I had nothing that suggested they may be fun (cover: nah, blurb at back: nah, etc.) so I thought 30 pages was enough in these cases.
