Back of the Book Competition – Week 21

Back of Book CompetitionIt’s time for the Back of the Book Competition! In this competition, I show you the back cover of a book each week, and you need to guess which book it is. There are prizes to be won, and the more often you participate, the more chances you have to win.

This is already week 21! Since the competition is planned to run until June 30th, that means there’s only 5 more weeks after this week! We’re nearing the end.

So, if you have wanted to enter a picture but still haven’t, now really is the time to get a move on!

About this week’s book:

The cover was sent in by Parrish Lantern. He’s from England and his blog is full of books: a lot of literary books and some poetry. His blog’s motto is: “A Book, a Glass of Good Malt Whisky, and Music, Constitute a Meeting of Constellations, a Consensus of Neurons – Blazing with Pleasure! “

This weeks’s cover is a little difficult – the picture is blurred (but still legible, if you click on it to make it bigger). Also, the book is maybe not so well known… It’s about murder, stories, and a beautiful island.

Which book is this?

  • The Man who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
  • Stevenson under the Palm Trees by Alberto Manguel
  • Illustrado by Miguel Syjuco
  • The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee

To enter, fill out the FORM!

Anyone can enter and you can start joining the competition at any moment. The form will be valid until the next post of the Back of the Book competition is up.

Even if you have no idea, enter anyway, as you will gain a participation point. The more participation points you have, the more entries you will get for the final prize draw.

Last week

Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

The book last week was: Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger, sent in by Sabrina of Thinking About Loud! If you know her blog, then you’ll already know she’s giving away this book in her first ever giveaway! If you haven’t entered yet, do so now, or at least pop over to say Happy Blogoversary!

Of the 25 participants this week, 24 got this right !! It was too easy!

The current standings are:

Aleetha 1; birgit 11; cbjames 1; Carol Wong 13; Diana 9; Dixie 2; Ellie 10; Erika 4; Fiona 3; Heather 9; Jan 1; Karen 4; Kirsti 3; Leslie 20; Lian 6; LindyLouMac 8; Louise 7; Lucybird 2; Melissa 1; Misha 19; Mystica 6; Nadine Nys 17; Nise’ 1; nomadreader 11; Nose in a book 8; Novroz 14; Picky Girl 1; Rachel 16; Raidergirl 2; Sabrina 8; Shan 6; Shelleyrae 18; Stef 0; Suzanne 13; tanabata 16; The Only Cin 19; Uniflame 17; Wendy (Owl) 5.

Note: In the current standings I have removed everyone who hasn’t played for the last 6 weeks. Their scores are saved and I’ll add them in again when they play next time.

Thanks everyone for playing!

This Week

Anyone can join in, you can join in at any time. Why not this week? You don’t need a blog. Just a name and an email address is enough (Email address is needed in case there are two people with the same name, or when someone uses their blog name one week and their real name the next).

Everyone is entered for a prize at the end of the competition, even if you only played once. But the more you play, the more entries you’ll get in the prize draw (even if you got some of the answers wrong).

Send in a book picture if you’d like (not compulsory at all).

Have you filled out the form?

When I read the description of the story I had a book immediately pop into my head, but sadly it wasn’t one of the options. Another guess for me.

    • Leeswammes says:

Interesting, Suzanne. I wonder what book you had in mind… 🙂 BTW, you are allowed to do some research if you’re not sure at first!

  2. RFW says:

Not the Man Who Loved Books Too Much – since I have that one in hand – and it doesn’t match 🙂
But thanks for more ideas of books to read…

    • Leeswammes says:

Shhh, RFW. Don’t want to tell the others! 🙂

It’s handy when one option is taken away. Unless…. are there different versions of the book? Uh-oh!

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
