Back of the Book Competition – Week 24
June 16, 2011 11 Comments
It’s time for the Back of the Book Competition! In this competition, I show you the back cover of a book each week, and you need to guess which book it is. There are prizes to be won, and the more often you participate, the more chances you have to win.
This is already week 24! Since the competition is planned to run until June 30th, that means there’s only 2 more weeks after this week! We’re nearing the end.
So, if you have wanted to enter a picture but still haven’t, now really is the time to get a move on!
About this week’s book:
The cover was sent in by Melissa of Miel et Lait. She writes about food, books and herself. I think I’ve been following her blog more or less since I started blogging! One of those must-follow bloggers.
The book: A woman with a criminal boyfriend is on the run from his business associates. She has to leave her old life behind in order to survive.
Which book is this?
- The Snowman by Jo Nesbo
- The Midnight Palace by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
- The Queen of the South by Arturo Perez-Reverte
- Stone’s Fall by Iain Pears
To enter, fill out the FORM!
Anyone can enter and you can start joining the competition at any moment. The form will be valid until the next post of the Back of the Book competition is up.
Even if you have no idea, enter anyway, as you will gain a participation point. The more participation points you have, the more entries you will get for the final prize draw.
Last week
The book last week was: The Likeness by Tana French. It was sent in by Boof of The Book Whisperer.
Of the 24 participants this week, 22 got this right !!

Thanks everyone for playing!
This Week
Anyone can join in, you can join in at any time. Why not this week? You don’t need a blog. Just a name and an email address is enough (Email address is needed in case there are two people with the same name, or when someone uses their blog name one week and their real name the next).
Everyone is entered for a prize at the end of the competition, even if you only played once. But the more you play, the more entries you’ll get in the prize draw (even if you got some of the answers wrong).
Send in a book picture if you’d like (not compulsory at all).
Have you filled out the form?
Hope I got it right …
I’m glad to say: yes, you got it right! I hoped to make it a bit more difficult this time – sounds I succeeded!
Total guess this time. I haven’t heard of any of those books. 🙂
Won’t be starting your competition by this stage, but, did you notice that the top line on that book talks about “literary thriller”. Seems like it’s not just the Dutch who need that as an excuse to read a book then.
I didn’t see that! Thanks for pointing it out Marleen. I believe this really is a literary thriller!
I recently read this book..still don’t know what to make of it..
I don’t know it, but I’ve read other books by this author (who will remain anonymous for the coming week). And I liked those.
I added a few books to my to-read list thanks to this week’s options!
Suzanne, they’re totally random (I got them from Amazon – they were suggestions for readers of the book that’s pictured this week). So, don’t complain if they’re no good! 🙂
I have no clue. But I’m going to guess and keep my fingers crossed. I want Jo Nesbo’s book snowman so bad, you’d think I’d know if that was it or not, but I’m clueless.
Lena, as a new competitor in this competition, I’m sorry that you’ve stumbled on a very difficult week! Normally, people out-clever me and almost everyone gets it right. This time… I think I made it a little too hard. But maybe I speak too soon, the regulars seem to figure it out every time. 🙂
I haven’t read anything by Nesbo although I do read Scandinavian writers quite often. Are you a fan of his?
