Winners of the Back of the Book Competition
July 21, 2011 23 Comments
It’s time for the Back of the Book Competition – but it’s the last time! In this competition, I showed you the back cover of a book each week, and you needed to guess which book it was. There were prizes to be won, and the more often you participated, the more chances you had to win.
Due to my holidays you’ve had to be a little patient, but here is the final post for the Back of the Back Competition… the winners!
The final book was…
The final book in this competition was The Legacy by Katherine Webb. This book came from the shelves of Boof of The Book Whisperer.
Out of 27 entrants, 22 people got this right.
The winner is…
We played this game 26 times and one person entered every single time and guessed the answer correctly every single time. That person is…
Leslie of Under my Apple Tree !!!!
Congratulations, Leslie! It wasn’t a big surprise as Leslie was ahead of the rest for a long time.
Runners up were Misha with 25 points, and Shelleyrae and TheOnlyCin with 24 points. Well done everyone, thanks for your dedication!
What Leslie wins: “There will be a small prize for the winner, something local from the Netherlands most likely.”, I wrote in my introduction post. I will put together a parcel for Leslie with some fun stuff. Please send me your address, Leslie!
Click on the link below where you can see the list of all participants and their total score. On the second tab (at the bottom of the spreadsheet) you can see the same results but now in order of number correct.
The participation winner is…
I also promised a prize for participating – the more weeks you participated, the more chances you had to win. In total there were 572 entries for this draw from a total of 84 different people. The winner is someone who participated 25 times (and guessed correctly 23 times). That person is…
Nadine of The Books of Life !!!
Congratulations, Nadine! Your prize is one of the books that was featured in the Back of the Book Competition. Use this link to find back all the Back of the Book posts. Please choose any book you like that is available from Bookdepository with a limit of €15. Since you live in Belgium, you can also choose to have the book ordered via bol.com (either in English or Dutch). Please let me know which book you choose (with a link) and your address.
That’s it!
That’s the end of the Back of the Book Competition. I know lots of people have enjoyed this. But all good things come to and end AND one should quit while one’s ahead. As the competition hasn’t gone stale, you will all remember it as a great thing. And who knows? We may do one again in the future!
Thanks to everyone who sent in pictures and to everyone who participated in guessing the back cover pictures.
It was great fun!

I’m brainstorming a new game that involves ugly covers. Have you recently read a novel with a really bad cover? Or is there one at the back of your shelves that you don’t want to look at ever again? The uglier the better.
Send me a picture and prepare for the next game. 🙂
Congratulations Leslie and Nadine 🙂
Congratulation to the winners 🙂
Ugly covers, heh? that’s going to be a bit difficult…why not good cover, Judith?
Novroz, good covers – there are so many. But I recently read a book with a truly ugly cover and there must be more in the world (see here, the picture at the bottom: https://leeswammes.wordpress.com/2011/07/06/book-review-asylum-by-patrick-mcgrath/ ).
Congrats to the winner. First ugly cover on it’s way to you via email 🙂
Ugly covers! Ahah great! I’ll have a look aound.
Congatulations to the winners!

Glad you enjoyed it, Boof! And thanks for sending in pictures. Now, is there an ugly book at the back of your shelf?
Congratulations to the winners… and thanks for putting on this fun game.
Will check my shelf for some ugly covers as I’m sure there are some ….

Shelleyrae, thanks for joining in. Glad it was fun for you.
Thanks! I had a lot of fun playing Back of the Book and looked forward to it each week. Now I guess I have to start looking for ugly covers!
Leslie, so dedicated, you played every week! How you managed to get them * all* right I never know, but congratulations. Yes, do look for some really, awful covers. 🙂
Congratulations to the winners! Well done.
I am sorry I fell out midway because it was such a great idea, Judith.
Thanks, Dorte. I’m glad you enjoyed it while you had the time. Let’s see if the Ugly Covers competition becomes big, too.
Ugly covers … I’ve been looking through my bookshelves but apparently I only buy books with nice covers *lol*. But seriously, I have so many books, maybe I just have to dig deeper to excavate some uglies …
Seems not so easy to find ugly cover, Birgit! I buy books very much based on the cover. Still, I’m sure we’ll manage to find some.
