Further information about the competition

Each week for 6 weeks, I will show you 6 covers and you have to choose the ugliest one. Every week there will be one winning cover (in case of a draw, I will have the final say). The seventh week, we’ll have the 6 winning covers back, and the most ugly, absolutely impossibly awful cover will win the competition. This book will have the questionable honor of being the ugliest book we know of.

Your task is to vote for the ugliest cover each week. Of all participants who chose the final, winning, cover in one of the first 6 rounds, one will win a book of their choice. Hopefully one of the books displayed will suit you (an awful cover doesn’t mean an awful book), and otherwise, you can choose any other book from the Book Depository (or other solution if the BD doesn’t deliver in your country) up to a maximum value.

I can still use ugly covers, so please look on your shelves and send in the most awful one(s): jh303015 at gmail dot com.

Do fill out the form! Anyone can enter!

Psst! Is there a cover here that you secretly like?

  1. Cindy says:

Once again, hard to choose …

  2. Wow, that was tough to choose but one just pipped it – UGLY!!😉

  3. Kristi says:

I guess I secretly like the “In the Woods” one.🙂 I kind of like what they did with the title (does that make me weird?), but it would look better if they hadn’t done the author’s name that way as well. The book is pretty good too!

  4. Birgit says:

We can only pick ONE!? There’s more than just one who should be elected as ugliest cover this week … also I have to agree with Kristi, “In The Woods” doesn’t look so bad.

    • Leeswammes says:

Birgit, somehow, there are multiple really bad covers this week, more so than the other weeks. I’m really looking forward to seeing which one people choose most!

  5. That skull is really ugly, but not sure that makes it the ugliest cover…hmmm. .hard to decide!

  6. See, I like the cover to In The Woods! It fits the book perfectly – creepy. (I really liked the book too) Hard to choose among the others though!

  7. Louise says:

I like the cover of In The Wooods, the rest are pretty dire aren’t they!

  8. Cover no 2 is the ugliest

  9. Rikki says:

This is a tough one. They are all awful.

  10. Novroz says:

Ow wow…the one I chose is TOTALLY ugly, I wouldn’t even look at it if I saw it in my frequent book stores.

  11. Nadine Nys says:

What a difficult choice, they are all ugly in their own way…

  12. Leslie says:

There’s a couple of particularly bad ones this week. I had to think about it for a day.

I read on the train and sit in the same car almost everyday. I had to pick the cover I would least want anyone to see in my possession!

  13. Lian says:

Gosh, I didn’t know there were that many, that ugly book covers! I can’t even choose so I guess I’m not participating, great competition though!

  14. Dear me, three truly awful covers this week. Suddenly I think my own no 5 looks much better🙂

  15. 2 is not just ugly, it’s offensive and inappropriate. (in my opinion). Ugliest? Probably not, 1 and 4 show pretty poor judgement on the part of the cover designer.

    • Leeswammes says:

Readingwithtea, I wasn’t sure myself whether to post cover 2. But Lena, who sent it in says it’s for all to see on Amazon. I also asked my husband who said there’s nothing explicit in there, so it’s OK. I do think it’s the ugliest one!🙂

  16. Katy says:

I love this! Covers always fascinate me. I’ll be checking in here more regularly to see what new ugly covers you have to share!🙂

  17. I think #2 has got them beat if I say so myself.

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
