Announcement: Literary Giveaway Blog Hop (October 15-19)

Literary Giveaway Blog Hop

The Literary Giveaway Blog Hop is an event taking place from Saturday October 15th until (and including) Wednesday October 19th. If you’ve been wanting to give away a book to your readers, maybe to show your appreciation or because you have a special celebration, this is your chance to join up with others.

Isn’t giving better than receiving? Most giveaway blog hops seem to be directed towards young adult and romance audiences. Those hops are not so ideal if you want to give away more literary books (but if you’re interested, I Am A Reader Not A Writer runs frequent blog hops).

The second Literary Giveaway Blog Hop in June was a great success. So, it’s time for a third one and I hope you’ll join in.

More details:

This event is an opportunity to give away prizes and get more traffic to your blog. You will run your own giveaway, but it will be linked up to all other participants via a links list (which I will give you just before the event). That way, not just your readers, but also the readers from the other participating blogs will stop by your blog.

You can offer one or more books, a gift voucher (for instance, to amazon or bookdepository), or anything else related to books and reading. There is no minimum or maximum value that your prize should have.

The only restriction is that if you’re giving away a book, that it should have some literary merit. It does not have to be the most difficult classic ever, but please no romance, supernatural or urban fiction or YA. Thrillers, poetry and non-fiction are fine, as are contemporary fiction, literary fiction and any other genres not in the categories above.

Further information on the prizes: a book can be new or “gently read”. Your giveaway can be just for your country, for your continent, or international. Offering a book via bookdepository.com is a good way to make your giveaway international (although not all countries are available) as it offers free postage.

Last day for signing up is October 12th. Only sign up if you intend to have a giveaway post up on your blog on October 15th.

Copy the image to put the button on your blog (e.g., in your sidebar and/or in a blog post), so you can advertise the Blog Hop and attract more participants to make this a big event and/or tell your readers about the event coming up.

I’ll sit this one out, have a peaceful Sunday, Judith 🙂

  2. I’m in! Form sent 🙂

    • Leeswammes says:

So glad to hear it, Boof! Actually, I’ve got a small pile of crime books that I’d send you if only we lived in the same country. Not sure yet whether I’ll add them in the giveaway.

  3. Great initiative! ‘Too bad’ my blog is about children’s books (and in Dutch too). Otherwise I would not hesitate too join the blog hopping.

    • Leeswammes says:

  4. JoV says:

I’m travelling on the 18th Oct and won’t have access to the Internet! So sorry, otherwise I would have signed up. 😦

  5. shelleyrae@ Book'd Out says:

Oh I will be away on my annual family holiday too! While I am looking forward to that, its a shame I’ll miss the literary blog hop!

  6. Rikki says:

Ah, another one. Looking forward to it!

  7. Lucybird says:

Horray! Looking forward to another one. Thanks Judith.

  8. KimvA says:

Ok I’m in! Form is sent.

  9. Birgit says:

Finally finally fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally I participate in your Literary Giveaway (about time too)!
I already know what I will be giving away, hehe!

    • Leeswammes says:

Yay! Great to have you on board, Birgit! 🙂

      • Birgit says:

I should really get stuff done around the apartment after my return, but here I am, in the middle of preparing my giveaway post (that’s dedication for ya). BTW the code above doesn’t seem to work for me, no idea whether it’s just me though. So I simply copied the button for the post.

  10. parrish says:

Enjoyed the last one, have signed again.

  11. Bellezza says:

Thank you for reminding me about this fun give-away! I’d love to participate again, and so I’ve signed up on your form. I’ll be sure to announce it on my blog, too, when I’m not racing off to work! Happy Friday! Happy weekend. 🙂

  12. I am in! I am gone over that weekend but I will prep everything…. thinking about what to give away…. hmmm…

  13. Sandra says:

I’ve signed up again, thank you very much for inviting me to join.

  14. Amanda says:

    I’m in. Thanks for hosting!

    • Amanda says:

I couldn’t get the code to work, either. I just used the picture with a link associated with it.

      • Leeswammes says:

Great you’re in, Amanda. I don’t know why, but I can’t get the code to work, so I removed it. I guess most people know how to copy a picture (Right-click – Save image as). 🙂

  15. Thanks so much for coordinating this event again. I had a wonderful time in June.

  16. Hi!
I’m going to try this one out! I am NOT into YA, Paranormal, nor Urban Fiction, so THIS IS SOOOO REFRESHING!!! THANK YOU!!!! I am really looking forward to this one! Kathy, at I’m a Reader, Not a Writer referred me here! Thanks to her, too! Can’t wait!!!
    Laurie

    • Leeswammes says:

Great to have you, Laurie! I like YA but it’s not a genre I love best. So I thought a bloghop with books that I do love best would be so much fun. And it has been, the previous times.

  17. Hi again, Leeswammes!
I guess I should correct my comment I left!
I can’t say I don’t like YA, Paranormal or Urban Fantasy because I have come across a few GREAT books I have read, NOT knowing they were this genre, and I have loved them! However, like you, they are just not my favorite, as well. You are right, doing a hop with books you LOVE, is GREAT!!! I know when doing other hops, it’s a GREAT treat coming across a blog with books I LOVE!!
    Thanks for writing back!
    Laurie

    • Leeswammes says:

Happens to me too, Laurie, that I pick up books in a genre that I wouldn’t normally read, and sometimes I happily read my sons’ YA books. But they are not my favorite genre.

  18. Kinna says:

I’m signed up. Thanks for organizing this again.

  19. I just realized I haven’t blogged about the hop yet! I just started a post :)….

I owe you an email, think I have a plan. Will email you. 🙂

  20. Mary says:

I signed up. Thanks so much for having me!

    Mary

  21. Karen says:

I would love to have taken part this time but I can’t I’m afraid. Have exams coming up. Will look out for the next one though.

  22. Thanks Leeswammes! This will be my first hop. I’m so excited. I hope my registration went through.
