September Book Blogger Events Around the Internet

September is a month to work on your blog and to read scary books. Let’s take a look at some of the events that you, as a blogger (and in some cases without having a blog), can participate. I have participated in all these events in previous years and plan to sign up again!

Bloggiesta

Bloggiesta

Bloggiesta is a blogathon that has been going for several years. This year, it’s all happening at the last weekend of this month: 28 to 30 September. Our hosts are Suey of It’s All About Books and the 1st daughter from There’s a book.

What can you expect to be doing that weekend? Well, work on your blog in any way that’s needed. Maybe you’re behind with writing posts, maybe you were thinking of changing your background, backup your blog, make new blogging friends, learn some new things.

I’ve participated a few times and have found it very useful AND good fun. Sign up HERE.

.

Book Blogger Appreciation Week

This is an event in which the hard work of book bloggers is celebrated with guest posts, awards, giveaways, and community activities. It’s a great event to get to know new book bloggers and feel the community spirit. It takes place next week, from 10-14 September.

You can sign up HERE. (Click on Registration is now open.)

.

Blogfest

Blogfest is a blog hop in which a large number of blogs give away prizes. These can be books or other items. The fun thing is that one participant will win a  grand prize and that there will be a website where you can track which blogs you’ve visited.

It takes place in the same weekend as Bloggiesta: 28 to 30 September. Sign up HERE.

RIP VII

RIP VII

R.I.P. Stands for Readers Imbibing Peril and is a challenge about reading scary books including thrillers, horror, supernatural, and similar genres.

You can read 1-4 (or more) books, watch scary movies, and even participate in a group read or two. The event takes place in te next 2 months, September and October. I haven’t signed up yet, but I’m planning to, and it’s not too late, if you want to join in.

Sign up HERE.

Already looking forward to your Literary Giveaway Blog Hop in October – this time I will definitely be part of it! Have you set a date for it? Wouldn’t want to miss the deadline for signing up with my upcoming vacation.

    • Leeswammes says:

Birgit, I haven’t thought of the date yet – probably around October 20st, but I’m not sure yet. Don’t worry about the signing up – you can sign up until 3 days before the event, which gives you about a month to sign up! 🙂

Where are you going on holiday? Have a great time!

      • Birgit says:

I’m going to Disney World, yay! I dread the long flight, but it’s so worth it!! It’s going to be so much fun visiting the parks, doing a little (or not so little) shopping AND meeting up with a close friend of mine too.
As to the giveaway hop: As I’ll be back in late September, signing up won’t be a problem then 🙂

      • Leeswammes says:

Very nice, Birgit! I hope you have a great time.

  2. Chinoiseries says:

So many events this month, I’m afraid I’ll have to skip quite a few :s I’m guessing that after the summer months, everyone is roaring to go 😀

  3. Katrien says:

Thanks for this interesting post, Judith!
I was thinking about taking part in the Literary giveaway hop, so is there already a sign-up page available?

  4. Judie says:

Thanks for this! Been wanting to find September online events I could join in. =)

  5. bibliosue says:

I might just participate in Bloggiesta for the first time — I don’t think I have anything going on that weekend.

  6. Rikki says:

I wasn’t aware that Blogfest was on the same weekend as Bloggiesta, but I will give it a miss anyway this time.
I also missed RIP even though Caroline pointed out I would have had a book to read (Coraline), but am not going to join AFTER I reviewed it.
Hey, don’t forget the HP readalong!

  7. Thank you for promoting my reading event! Best of luck with your TBR list. Can’t wait for the next blog hop giveaway. 🙂

  8. Lucybird says:

I’m taking part in BBAW and Bloggiesta. Already getting my bloggiesta list together

  9. Book Nympho says:

Ooh, I wasn’t aware of most of these events. I’m participating in BBAW for the first time this year and hope to join in a few more things. These all sound like so much fun! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  10. I just added one today – Banned Book Week Sept 30 – Oct 6, Looking for hosts to participate in this all important event 😉

    Thanks for posting these!

  11. Leslie says:

I didn’t realize BBAW was coming up so soon. Bloggiesta is already on my calendar. There’s always work to do to improve the blog. And of course the readathon is always fun, although I probably spend too much time visiting blogs and participating in challenges and not doing enough, you know, reading!

    • Leeswammes says:

Leslie, BBAW is next week, so if you want to join in, sign up soon. You can also sign up to do an interview swap, not sure if the closing date has passed for that one.

With the readathon, I’m the same. I spend so much time reading other people’s blogs and doing the mini challenges that I don’t read as much as I hope. At least I’ve learned to read read easy-going books during the readathon. You don’t want *War and Peace* at 3am! (Well, to be fair, I usually don’t stay awake that long!).

  13. Trish says:

I’m so excited for all of the book blogging goodness over the next two months! After that I might have to take a blog vacation. 😉 I’m really looking forward to BBAW next week and Bloggiesta at the end of the month. I’m also glad to see that you’ll be doing the giveaway hop soon. Had so much fun last time!

    • Leeswammes says:

There’s so much going on, Trish, and I want to join in with everything! Not sure I will, though! I’ll come across you at the various events I’m sure.

  14. Wow, a lot going on in the book blogging world! I might try for Bloggiesta but unfortunately I’ve overextended myself in terms of work and lecturing this month. I just want to sleep when I have a moment!

  15. Judith… I have been so busy that I didn’t even realize it was BBAW! I think this happened last year too, but the Strike at work was my excuse. 🙂

Just one more week with three full time jobs, then I’m down to two. This one is the most time consuming/putzy though so I’m happy it’s almost done. Did I mention they don’t speak English? And I don’t speak Portuguese? So it’s been challenging.

I hope you had a great summer and have a wonderful BBAW week!!!

    • Leeswammes says:

Mari, pity you missed BBAW, although it’s not quite too late to join in… Oh, yes, I remember about the strike!

Glad you’re losing a job, it’s so much! I didn’t know they speak Portugese. 🙂

I love comments! Let me know what you think.
