I read 7 books in the last week
… 2 of them I had almost finished before the week started, and in the weekend I read 3 books as it was the 24 hour read-a-thon. I have a lot of reviews to catch up on!
The Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende. Historical fiction on a Caribbean island where a plantation owner takes in a slave girl and has a long standing relationship with her. 4 stars
Nothing by Blake Butler. Non-fiction about insomnia. Written in a very literary manner. Hard to follow sometimes, but also interesting and recognisable. 3 stars
Fauna by Alissa York. In Toronto, a number of people that are all interested in the welfare of animals become involved with each other. 4 stars
The Ugly Sister by Jane Fallon. A woman is spending her summer with her famous modelling sister in London. But is the sister really interested in her, the unsuccessful librarian? 4.5 stars
The Literary Circle by Marjolein Februari. A woman and a journalist are looking forward to their a former class mate, now famous for writing a successful book, coming to give a lecture in the small town. But the literary circle doesn’t seem so keen. 4 stars
What To Do When Someone Dies by Nicci French. A woman has to deal with the fact that her husband has died in a car crash together with another woman. She can’t believe he had an affair and she does anything to find out the truth. 4 stars
My Year With Eleanor by Noelle Hancock. Memoir about the author spending a year doing things she’s afraid of. Small things like phoning someone, and big things like skydiving and doing stand-up comedy. 4 stars
Currently Reading
The Blasphemer by Nigel Farndale. A couple is on a plane that crashes in the sea near the Galapagos Islands. The man’s great-grandfather was in the First World-War in France. That’s all I know so far!

Reviews:
Lies by Michael Grant. The third in the Gone series. The struggle in the FARZ is continuing with children nearly ready to kill eachother. Some disturbing events make their lives even more uncertain than they already were. 4 stars
We All Ran into the Sunlight by Natalie Young. A fire happened in a French castle years ago. When the castle is put up for sale years later, the people involved in the fire have to revisit the past again. 3 stars

All I can say is that’s an amazing number of books to read in one week, for me anyway. I would have to stop sleeping to finish that many! And congrats on a successful read-a-thon over the weekend.

That’s a big lot of books to have read!!!!! I just finished “The Diva Haunts the House” and am 70 pages into “Learn to Live Through Cancer” by Stewart B. Fleishman”. I am already giving it 5 stars and going to recommend it to my friends and family who have cancer. It covers everything that you can imagine and things you don’t think of. I have a pre-cancer so will keep this book in case the cancer comes. I can’t say enough about this one.

I was wondering if Fauna was difficult in that it has many stories about animal cruelty? I have a hard time reading about cruelty to animals.

Amy, Fauna isn’t too full of animal cruelty. In fact, most of it is about rescuing animals. I’m sure you’ll be ok with it.
